It’s Wednesday, it’s not Tuesday. I know this. But I’m here and that’s got to count for something, right?

It has been a whirlwind lately! First up – just check out this latest sonogram picture of my grandson in the making. Adorable, yes? He looks like his Daddy! And while he is a boy, I don’t that that is what it looks like. We’ve seen his little boy parts on some of the other sonogram pictures and baby boy isn’t going to be lacking in that department at all – but I think this is cord or, well …. something.

Only 12 more days at this job. My official start date at the new agency is December 21. I’ll be heading to the Bahamas that week. Gotta love starting a new job with a vacation week! And while cruising out to the Bahamas, I’ll turn 50. FIFTY!!!! How in the hell did this happen? Fifty???? I don’t feel fifty. I don’t think I look fifty. And the funny thing about turning 50 is that it seems to be when you start thinking “In 10 more years, I’ll be 60!” Yep, yesterday while driving home from work, I marked the 10 year increments off in my head. “10 years after that, I’ll be 70!!!” “10 years after that I’ll be 80 and maybe I won’t make it to 90.” I think being on a cruise ship with plenty of mojitos on hand – the actual 50th won’t be too bad!

The Christmas decorations are up! We’ve got quite the “baby boy blue” theme going on and I found the most adorable ceramic baby shoe ornaments …. see?
Next year I’ll be able to fill in the soles of the shoes with the baby’s name, date of birth, weight and length!
And my tree is all about homemade ornaments. I’ve saved every ornament my kids have made me in school. Some are pretty hidious (like those wreaths made on a paper plate covered with macaroni shells and then painted green … do you have any of those … and were your kid’s teachers smart enough to use a SMALL plate? Because my kid’s teachers thought it was rather funny to use a full size plate and with the dried macaroni and paint they must weight a pound. Try hanging something that heavy – never mind the fact that it’s the size of a paper plate!! – on your tree. And I’ve got two of ‘em.) Sorry.
Some are pretty adorable. Or they were. This is a “snowflake” that my 27 year old son made in kindergarten. It’s a styrofoam ball with toothpicks. And most of the toothpicks are broken off now. And it is my MOST treasured ornament and ALWAYS gets front and center of the tree!
Don’t you laugh now.

New grandbaby, new job, birthday—Happy Holidays to you indeed!
Like Hannibal used to say. “I love it when a plan comes together.” Hannibal from the A Team,I mean–not the guy with the elephants. I’m not sure what he said.

I too have an ornament that gets front and center every year. It’s a little plastic lamb that used to have a wreath but it fell off. I like him because my first huband hated him. He, of course, hated him because I liked him. And so it goes.
Have fun on your cruise. And turning 50 isn’t so bad when you’re at sea!

Hey, I LOVE those homemade ornaments! I still have some that my kids made me in elementary school, but some have mysteriously disappeared over the years. It makes me sad. Love the booties!
And I am so jealous of you going on a cruise to the Bahamas! Happy early birthday (because I am terrible at remembering and then sending wishes on time) and have fun!

Aww, he is a little cuties! We’re starting our own tradition of hand made ornaments since my mom won’t share any of the ones she has.
Happy birthday! And happy vacation.

I trust you’re having a splendid time cruising merrily along! I expect to see pictures upon your return.
Don’t worry about turning 50. It ain’t nothin’. Remind me I said that in a few years when I turn 50, ‘kay?
Your ornaments are wonderful, you sentimental thing.
